Organic Kitchen Garden
The Organic Kitchen Garden produces a wonderful array of fruit and vegetables for the Castle, including some for the restaurant and visitors.
Many flowers are grown alongside the vegetables to attract beneficial insects, and deter unwanted ones.
There are two lovely espalier apple arches planted up with a wide range of Sussex varieties of apples, divided by a small pond and fountain.
The old walls have fan-trained pears, cherries and apples. The partitioned beds are planted up with traditional seasonal fruit and vegetables as well as other more unusual ones.
We use natural wigwams made from hazel from the woods, with traveller's joy to bind around it for our peas and beans to grow up.
