The Collector Earl's Garden at Arundel Castle in West Sussex makes a magnificent and idyllic setting for Shakespeare's classic plays.
On Friday 25 & Saturday 26 August 2017, during the Arundel Festival, in their 8th year as a touring theatre company, and by popular acclaim, GB Theatre will return to Arundel, to perform William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream on two evenings.
Performed in beautiful Elizabethan costumes by a cast of professional Shakespearian actors, the shows included live music, hilarious comedy and tragedy, all set in stunning natural surroundings as Shakespeare intended for his plays.
The Collector Earl's Garden has been conceived as a light-hearted tribute to Thomas Howard, 14th Earl of Arundel (1585-1646), known as 'The Collector'.
The grand centrepiece is the rock work mountain, planted with palms and rare ferns to represent another world, supporting a green oak version of 'Oberon's Palace', a fantastic spectacle designed by Inigo Jones for Prince Henry's Masque on New Year's Day 1611, only five years after A Midsummer Night's Dream was first presented.
"GB Theatre Company has reinvigorated Shakespeare's works like no other modern touring company"
